Improving children’s school performance depends on strong management at both the district and school levels in Ghana. The Education Management Improvement (EMI) program focuses on strengthening education management capacity at the district level.
The Education Management Improvement program tailors management training and technical support to meet the specific needs of EQUALL’s 20 partner districts.
The EQUALL team works as facilitators with the staff of each district’s Education Office to identify its specific needs in training and technical assistance. A jointly developed Management Training Plan identifies the district’s needs and education objectives. This determines the training and technical assistance visits that EQUALL provides.
Management training covers all aspects of district planning and management areas, for example:

EQUALL has observed a clear link between districts whose management performance improved over the years in the program and improved school and pupil performance.
